The squad selection letters will be mailed the week of May 5, 2008. All participants who attend the four-day clinic, follow all League and T-Bird rules and return the signed Cheerleader Contract will be allowed to tryout for the program. The selection criteria has been developed to provide a fair opportunity for cheerleaders with a wide range of ability and experiences. Judging will be done by independent judges. General selection criteria will include: Spirit, enthusiasm, clinic attendance, effort, dress, behavior and the execution of the tryout routines. Participants will be judged during the week of clinic as well as during tryouts. We recognize the impact that cuts have on young participants and will seek to minimize any negative effect. You should also understand that the participants are trying out for the T-Bird organization and NOT for a particular squad. The Diablo Valley Youth Football League mandates general guidelines regarding squad placement according to age. Within the age parameters, participants will be grouped by squad taking into consideration grade, squad size, experience and ability. Squad decisions will be made by the T-Bird Executive Board and are final. If a participant withdraws prior to the April Clinic, all fees will be refunded minus a $35.00 administrative cost. If a participant withdraws during the April Clinic, no registration fees will be refunded. If a participant withdraws at any time following her “tryout” on May 3, 2008, no participation fees will be refunded. 2008 ATTENDANCE POLICY FORSAN RAMON VALLEY T-BIRD CHEER PROGRAM It is important for all participants and their parents to understand our attendance rules and to inform you they will be strictly enforced for the 2008 season. The following will be required: § Cheer participants will be expected to be at every practice on time during the month of August and during our regular Fall practices. § Once the season begins, if a cheerleader misses two (2) practices during the week, she will rbe equired to attend the game, but NOT be allowed to participate, and will be “sidelined” for that game. § Approval of up to no more than three (3) unforeseen August absences must be communicated to the Head Coach and approved at least 24 hours prior to practice. § Vacations during the month of August are not considered "excused absences". § If there is an absence, it is the cheerleader’s responsibility to get with another member of the squad to learn what was missed so she is “up to speed” with the rest of the squad by the time she returns. § Depending on the circumstances of the absence(s), the Head Coach has the responsibility to evaluate the situation and bring it to the attention of the V.P. of Spirit. The Head Coach may recommend cutting the participant from the program to the V.P. of Spirit and Executive Board, who will make the final decision. Further absences that are not emergent in nature will result in an automatic drop from the program. § Punctuality is as important as attendance. Chronic tardiness or leaving early is unacceptable and will result in a possible drop from the program. We will continue to communicate the nature of these requirements during registration, through the Cheerleader contract you are required to sign and the agreements signed at T-Bird Day. Every cheerleader is expected to be at every practice and game. The impact of August absences is significant to squad progress and most of all, safety. The fairness and integrity of this policy impacts the girls’ attitudes and their learning progress, safety and readiness to perform and compete. It is important to comply with the above absence requirements, as it will make a significant difference to the progress and performance of each squad during August and throughout the season. If you have any questions regarding the above policy, please contact the V.P. of Spirit, Linda Brady, at (925) 838-1138, ext. 202 (w) or (925) 828-8089 (h). 2008 SAN RAMON VALLEY THUNDERBIRD CHEERLEADER COSTS
